This is a dish from punjab, India, and is sold in streets corner in Amritsar. Named after the city where it originated, this easy fried fish dish is a great appetizer or side dish to complement the main course.


Slithers of firm white fish (eg Alaskan Pollock)
1 heaped tablespoon gram flour
1 heaped tablespoon of rice flour
Salt and chilli to taste
1 teaspoon of caram seed
1 tablespoon of dried fenugreek leaf, lemon juice and garlic ginger paste


Coat the fish with all of the other ingredients
Allow to sit for 20mins
Carefully fry fish (190c) until cooked
