A hearty dish, and a staple for all indian cooks. Mung daal is a healthy nutritious dish that is simple to cook, perfect with rice or chapatti.
200g mung beans
2 table spoons ginger garlic paste
1 table spoon turmeric, 1 table spoon cumin seed
100g chopped tinned tomato
Chilli flakes and salt to taste
Water as required
Fry the spices in the oil and add the mung beans and ginger garlic paste
Boil mung beans in twice the volume of water, adding more if necessary
Mung beans should be split and soft when cooked
Add tomato and cook until you have the consistency you require
Add chilli and salt to taste.
